All You Need To Know About a Successful Detox

Detox

First, therefore most important, be prepared!

What do I mean buy this? Well, it goes without saying (but still requires mentioning) that if you have a Coco Pops habit at breakfast that’s going to have to go as part of the detox. Change is necessary! Take a good look in your store cupboard and clear out all the junk food. Junk food is anything that is wrapped up in plastic, or comes in a packet. It is highly processed and full of noxious chemicals. Don’t be fooled by the delicious smelling in-store baked bread either. It isn’t made in store and has approximately 27 chemicals to make it look and taste as it does.

Look for all the hidden sugars in your current food choices. There are at least 61 different names for sugar listed on food labels. These include common names, such as sucrose and high-fructose corn syrup, as well as barley malt, dextrose, maltose and rice syrup, among others. You are going to make the biggest healthy living decision in your life when you CUT OUT THE SUGAR. A detox is always going to be about ‘no added sugar’!

Buy in the veg! They have to be in a raw state. This means no tinned carrots or peas. However, occasionally frozen veg can be as good as the fresh variety. A detox is also about GOOD ENOUGH! Those of you who have read my free ebook (see top of page) will now that we never beat ourselves up about achieving perfection. Good enough is sometimes less stressful and therefore more healthy than trying (and possibly failing, certainly wasting huge time and effort) trying to be perfect.

Organic, or not organic. This could be a Hamlet moment. Not everything needs to be organic. Do a search for the Clean 15 and the Dirty Dozen. The guys who do this research are continually updating their information and buy your veg accordingly. For instance, broccoli need not be organic. It grows easily and well enough not to require too many pesticides and fertilisers. However Brussels Sprouts require careful nurturing and 17 sprays of chemicals to achieve a saleable image! Also true, most of organic now is contaminated anyway, but at least it is less contaminated. So wash all your vegetables and fruit before eating them.

A big factor is to make the time you spend detoxing Your Time. This is not a time when you want to think about partying with friends. Just say no to dates out and concentrate a fortnight on the purpose of YOU. Being 100% committed is important to your success. Partying and detoxing do not make good partners.

Supplements, drink only days and all that ‘stuff’. A well know fact but not generally known to those outside the nutritional world, is that most foods are now deficient in important nutrients, like magnesium and potassium. Farming techniques have provided food to feed everyone, but in achieving this the land has been over chemicalised and the soil is deplete of essentials, especially minerals. An intensive fortnight high dosing on supplements will correct nutritional deficiencies and give your liver a chance to do its work to clear out the toxins.
